Barney is thrust into the world of being a mover in New York City after a devastating breakup forces him to move in with his older brother, Sam. He’s quickly forced to navigate a completely foreign workplace environment populated with an intensely strange cast of coworkers, a myriad of moving clients ranging from absurd to downright terrifying, as well as a neglected relationship to his older brother - new roommate - coworker.
As the season progresses, our core cast of characters each develop rich personal arcs. At the center lies Barney and Sam, but many of the other members of the moving company’s lives are also explored and expanded to help bring us into the world.
The Moving Company itself provides a brilliant vehicle to explore the life of a
small business in a major city. The incredible stress, small successes and crushing defeats of trying to keep it alive constantly drive our characters forward.
Beyond our key cast and workplace setting, every episode brings an opportunity to introduce a new move. A consistent device to inject challenge, hilarity, and growth.
